About
Heather
Ellie’s mom taught her to sew on a sewing machine when she was only seven years old. She has made clothes, quilts, and altered clothing, and has even sold tote bags on Etsy. Ellie always wanted to be a teacher and has a Masters in Education from U of M. Currently, she teaches beginner handcrafting (knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, embroidery and hand sewing) classes Washtenaw Community College. In addition to handcrafts she teaches piano and is a professional nanny. Ellie is super excited to be teaching summer camps at the All Sewn Up Sewing School!
Heather learned how to sew on a machine when she was just eight years old. She had the best-dressed doll in town! Heather furthered her sewing through the Pennsylvania 4H program where she received state level accolades! Then she majored in Home Economics at Bridgewater College, VA and, has since, sewn professionally at custom drapery workrooms.
Heather has a lot of teaching experience. She began teaching as a volunteer in 4H and quickly found joy in offering summer camps (and eventually after-school classes) at local fabric stores in the Dallas area. Currently, she is a STEAM teacher at a Montessori school in Pinckney where she works with children grades K-8. Heather still offers adult sewing classes at WCC. In her spare time, she enjoys watching her high school son at his running sports or snuggling her two cats.
